The Maxence Larrieu International Flute Competition Reaches its Peak: The Long-Awaited Finale!
The final round of the Maxence Larrieu Competition unfolds today at 2:30 pm at the Nice Conservatory, where the four finalists will showcase their virtuosity before an audience of enthusiasts and a distinguished jury.
The first half of this finale opens with the performance of Jacques Ibert’s Flute Concerto, a piece as complex as it is captivating, allowing soloists to reveal the full richness of their technique and depth of interpretation. Federico Altare, Julin Cheung, Bianca Maria Fiorito, and Tommaso Gaeta will perform this masterpiece, accompanied by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of internationally renowned conductor Lionel Bringuier.
Following this initial performance, a 30-minute intermission offers the audience a unique opportunity to attend a gathering in the Conservatory’s main hall with two iconic figures of the flute world: Emmanuel Pahud and Maxence Larrieu. A rare moment, indeed.
The finale resumes at 5:00 pm with a change in repertoire. Each finalist will interpret Mozart’s quartets, accompanied by the string trio of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. These pieces will highlight the elegance and sensitivity of each performer in a more intimate and refined setting.
The award ceremony, concluding this prestigious event at 6:45 pm, marks the culmination of days filled with effort, emotion, and musical excellence. Which of the finalists will receive this edition’s prize and secure their place in the history of the Maxence Larrieu Competition? The answer comes tonight.
May this finale serve as a moment of inspiration for all, a celebration of flute artistry and classical music through the emerging talents of today and tomorrow.
